It has taken me a while
to open my mind to how effective breathing
techniques can be. I was definitely a skeptic, but
now I am sold on the concept. Andrew Weil, M. D.
seems to be a guru in this area. It is amazing what
they are finding out about how these techniques
improve anxiety, blood pressure, circulation,
energy, etc. Initially if I had to sit and
breath to improve anxiety, I would last maybe two
minutes. The CD provides a guide and techniques for
increasing one's ability.

This is the #1 book on ADHD that we recommend in our practice. Patients consistently find it connecting, validating, and helpful. The good news is that because it is written by two psychiatrists with ADHD it is a book that those with ADHD can read. A challenge often experienced by those with ADHD is that they can't read a book cover to cover.
With this book you can jump right in the middle and go either direction. What I like about this book is that it helps those with ADHD see their unique set of gifts and talents while also pointing out the challenges.
Adolescents seem to connect with the author's analogy of the ADD brain which is like a "turbo-charged race-car brain."

In my practice, children have readily taken to this book. I have found children from age 4 to 11 find this book helpful. Illustrated by Marc Brown, the illustrator of the T.V. show "Authur", Dinosaur's Divorce captures children's attention. A painful subject like divorce is made approachable and understandable and covers the significant issues involved.

The Blessing of a Skinned Knee
This book would be for the
parent who is intentional about their parenting,
conscientious, and dedicated to growing as a parent
which means sometimes being stretched outside our
comfort zone. My sister, one of the brightest people I
know, introduced me to this book. There are so many
parenting books out there but this one will make you
think on a deeper level about values and how to apply
them in the day-to day.

If you want to know what the research shows in terms of successful marriage, not just someone else's opinion, this is the book for you.
The Gottmans have "done the work" and they have gained the respect of most all marriage therapists. I am amazed at how often they are quoted by other well known authors; but they have earned it. Having attended a "Gottman" conference, I can attest that they are deeply committed to presenting substantiated data and are passionate about helping couples succeed.
